Mistreated Windows

It’s true, I have mistreated my kitchen windows.
But first, I neglected them.  For almost two years, they were trimless.  Like in this old picture of Adam. sitting on the counter.P1070254
Then, last March, the trim went up, but it wasn’t painted.  Some of it was primed.  But the trim, and the windows themselves, all needed to be painted.

I finally got around to painting the trim, hanging curtain rods, and “mistreating” the windows this week.  (If you’re not sure what it means to “mistreat” windows, you really need to pay The Nester a visit.)

Aren’t they beautiful?  And they were cheap.  And easy.  I’ll tell you more about that in a tutorial I’m working on.

I think I spent more time cleaning the kitchen and photographing it than I did on the window (mis)treatments.  But I love the results!

What about you?  Are you mistreating any windows in your house?  Or simply neglecting them?

  1. They look great! And don't worry about how long it took - I still have 1 piece of trim missing from the renovation 7 years ago!

  2. Those look fantastic! I am neglecting many windows in my home at the moment. I actually just bought a king size quilt that I want to cut and hang as drapes. I don't know if it will work, but you never know!

  5. Oh yeah, I have a couple windows I still need to stain from the install last spring. I even have part of my wall in the kitchen to repaint from the transition from window to patio door. Sigh....Hubby still has to put a new light bulb in the upstairs bathroom. Does that count? What would we do if everything was done? The world (here) may never know! ;-)

  9. Isn't it funny how we can get every Big detail done and that last 10% can wait a long time :) But hey, it looks great, so I think it was worth the wait, you windows seem very proud to showcase their new "clothes" ;)
