“Urine” for a treat!

1.  I learned how to pee in a 5 gallon bucket today.  There aren’t many other options for a 7 month pregnant woman stuck in a turkey barn all morning.

2.  I had to pee in a cup this afternoon.  They should really give us a big funnel to use.  This is not the easiest thing to do when you have a big ol’ belly in the way.
3.  Adam decided yesterday he wants to use the potty.  And he was successful 3 times.  I’m so NOT ready for this.  I was planning on waiting until he turned 3 this summer to potty train.  But maybe he’s ready?  Any advice?
4.  My dad declared last weekend that he is going to finish our 2nd floor bathroom and 3rd bedroom before the baby comes (the end of March.)  The bathroom has been in the same, only-the-toilet-functions state since September.

  1. LOL to #2. And as for potty training, I've got nothing. Let me know what works for you.

  2. Boy, that all raises a lot of questions. Stuck in the turkey barn, huh? KNowing how my daughters were when they were pregnant, how often did you have to empty that 5-gallon bucket?

  3. LOVE LOVE LOVE the title - brilliant I might go as far as to say "urine"genious!

Potty training - if Adam says he is ready than he is ready - that is what I did with all 3 of mine, when they told me they were ready they were - they never had an accident or peed the bed!

  4. Love it! Every good farm girl can squat anywhere to pee. My 4 yo daughter uses cement blocks when necessary!

  6. With Adam - GO FOR IT! Our son is 22 months and wants to use the potty EVERY time his big sister does. He's had no success, but just him being interested is enough for us.
We started our daughter on our time schedule and struggled for almost a year before she decided she was interested and then it was a 3 day process.

And the cup thing - a funnel would definitely help! I'm due middle of April. :)

  7. Oh my goodness...you crack me up! I need a funnel too!

Wow, maybe Adam will potty train before the baby?!!

Cannot wait to see the bathroom!

  8. I got your comment about trying to wrestle two into the bathroom, or Adam needing help while nursing - I understand that completely!
It was easy when our little boy was a baby and in a carrier to take them both to the public bathroom, it got more difficult when he was too big for a carrier. Lots of times he was strapped to the changing table so I could help Big Sister!
As far as him needing help while nursing.... it taught our daughter patience, and how to hold it.
Caroline could be right - if he had success already, he could train before baby 2!

  10. Great post...made me laugh and reminise all the lovely places I have had to squat while pregnant! As for potty training...they are ready when THEY are ready...if ya know what I mean. Our son learned within a few days...we just took him into the potty every 30 minutes or so...we got lucky and he caught on quick...now, number 2 is a whole different story!! Good luck!!

  11. This is too funny. I have had to pee in strange places before, too while building our house. I potty trained my son when he was nineteen months old when his sister came home from the hospital. I wasn't going to have two in diapers and he got trained in a day. He was ready though. We had one of those old potty chairs with a tray and a belt. I put him on it and strapped him in and gave him some books to look at and he went and I praised him like crazy. After that he was so excited to go again that he would run in there every few minutes to see if he could go again. He finally learned that he didn't have to go all the time. Good luck.

  12. That is a lot of peeing going on. ;-) If Adam says he is ready just go with it....he may lose interest, but definitely encourage it while he thinks it's neat! We tried to "train" our oldest...it was a miserable failure until he was ready. With our youngest we decided to just wait til he gave us an indication he was ready. He went to Mema and Papa's for a weekend and came back using the potty! Not an accident awake OR asleep since then. The littles know best.

  13. At least you didn't have to worry about any wind messing with you ;-) If Adam is ready, let him go! Changing one is MUCH easier than changing two! He probably won't be totally trained by March, but you will be that much more ahead of the game!

  14. Oh, goodness! I do not know how you accomplished the bucket feat! I don't think I could do that without the 7-month belly! You are my hero!!!

  15. I just found your blog & love it! I want to tell you that when my son was little I had the hardest time getting him through the night without wetting the bed. Then, I was telling a friend about it & she said, "Do you wake him up or carry him to the bathroom?" My reply was, "Ummm... I don't want him to wake up so I carry him." She started howling with laughter & said I had to wake him up to make him go. Duh. After that, he never had another wet bed...

    Good Luck!
